Objective and Contents of the Course

Course Objectives: To enable students to understand the following
- Significance of ship’s survey
- Fundamental knowledge about ship's classification societies
- What sorts of standards. regulations and international conventions are applied to ships and their installations
- What is necessary to maintain ships in service from the aspects of standards and regulations including sort of ship's survey and certificate necessary
- Practice, procedure, preparation and precautions for survey
Course Content: Standards and regulations for ship facilities and shipbuilding, aimed at ensuring the safety of ships and protecting the marine environment.
Standards and regulations set by governments or ship classification societies; flag state standards.
Ship surveys conducted to evaluate whether compliance with standards and regulations is maintained.
Production surveys performed when a ship or equipment is built/manufactured, and periodic ship surveys.
Standards and regulations applied to ships in service.
Certificates issued by ship classification societies registered with IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) or EMSA (European Maritime Safety Agency).
Standards, regulations, procedures, ship survey and certification practices; survey preparation and precautions.
