The purpose of Marine Engineering (Operations) Curriculum is to prepare the graduates for marine engineer officer posts on board merchant marine ships. The graduates are able to work on all oceangoing merchant ships as engineer officers starting from the Fourth Engineer Officer up to the Chief Engineer level, unlimited with engine power. They also take courses to enable them assume responsibilities as technical managers of merchant fleets, in ship repair facilities, in the energy industry and as facilities engineers in large touristical complexes. The academic program is composed of eight semesters. In their first year students take courses in basic sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Computing) and on introductory marine engineering, and later take courses in shipboard power plants, marine auxiliary machinery, naval architecture, electrotechnology, automatic control, heat transfer and technical management. The program is in concordance with the requirements of STCW 2010 Convention for Engineer Officers, both at the Operational and Management Levels. |
