Program Information

Mechanical Engineering, besides being one of the oldest engineering branches, is an engineering branch with a wide range of expertise. Mechanical engineers are people who research and work on the design, manufacture, operation, and maintenance and repair of mechanical or thermal systems and mechanisms, energy conversion and transmission systems.
As the Mechanical Engineering department of Piri Reis University, we train mechanical engineering of future who are competent to research, close to the industry with a wide and a wide vision in an environment-friendly and award-winning green campus with laboratories equipped with advanced technological devices, experienced and expert academic staff, Erasmus student exchange program and Co-Op application with industrial organizations.
The language of instruction in our department is 100% English. Students who are accepted to the department of Mechanical Engineering transfer to our department after taking an average of 1 year of English education within a modular education system compatible with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. All the basic courses required for the mechanical engineering department are given in our department. In addition, our students can start their business life equipped with elective courses and graduation and design projects that will come to the fore in the future and they are also interested in.
For example, a student interested in the field of energy can take elective courses such as energy conversion systems, solar energy, fuel cells and industrial energy efficiency and can specialize in this field.
In this way, we offer our students the opportunity to improve themselves in areas such as automotive industry, defense industry, biomedical devices, naval, air and spacecraft, digitalization in production that has become widespread with Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and robotics.
The students of our department can spend a certain period of their education in a contracted European higher education institution within the scope of the ERASMUS student exchange program. Our students studying in a different country can both improve their foreign language and create an international network for themselves.
In particular, for the mechanical engineer candidates who want to specialize in the maritime field, we as Turkey's first and only marine-themed university offer education in shipbuilding and marine technology to meet the needs of industry. In addition, within the scope of the Co-Op practice that is carried out with industrial partners, we offer our students the opportunity to work part-time in industrial organizations on certain days in order to both improve themselves in their field and to gain work experience.
In our department, students who meet the requirements determined by our university have the opportunity to do a double major and minor in another departments they are interested in.
Piri Reis University, Mechanical Engineering Department trains team-player mechanical engineers with analytical thinking skills, strong ability to communicate both in writing and verbally, and respect ethical rules while fulfilling the responsibilities required by their profession.
