Piri Reis University Industrial Engineering undergraduate program aims to provide a comprehensive knowledge and skills base for solving organizational problems. The program guides students in the effective design, planning, construction, improvement, operation and control of systems with specific objectives involving human factors and scarce resources. Within this framework, specialized knowledge of mathematics, natural sciences and social sciences as well as engineering analysis and design is acquired from an interdisciplinary perspective. The curriculum aims to help students develop critical thinking and a systems perspective towards systems design and problem solving, using qualitative and quantitative analysis methods, but especially statistical analysis and mathematical modeling tools. With this perspective, individuals are trained to understand that organized human activities are carried out in systems with scarce resources and a specific purpose, and that these systems have no fixed boundaries. The curriculum is regularly updated in line with scientific developments and industry needs and provides students with an education focused on efficiency and effectiveness in manufacturing and service systems. The department also encourages students to develop themselves in their areas of professional interest by using computer and information technologies effectively. |
