Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to define the concept and functions of storage, to explain the layout in warehouses, to determine order picking techniques and warehouse capacity, to provide basic functions and storage processes and activities that need to be done for good storage. |
Course Content: | This course is designed to convey basic information about all types of warehouse and storage activities within the supply chain, to understand warehouse types and to implement operations carried out in warehouses starting from warehouse design. Course content consists of stock/warehouse/storage concepts, product-warehouse relationship, principles of warehouse design, warehouse types and storage activities. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students who successfully complete this course will - Define the concepts of stock, warehouse and storage - Understand the critical importance of warehouses in supply chains - Understand the role of logistics-related properties of products in warehouse design - Understand the basic principles of warehouse design - Explain warehouse layout - Understand storage systems and be able to recommend storage systems suitable for the product/situation - Understand and be able to implement basic storage activities. |
